Two RMIT University students have won coveted scholarships to attend the annual Apple developers conference in San Francisco, USA.
The Worldwide Developers Conference is the biggest event on the Apple calendar and will see more than 3,000 developers and programmers gather to listen to the company’s innovations.
Fourth-year Software Engineering student Gareth Townsend and Masters of Design student Scott Brewer have been awarded scholarships worth $5,000 by the Apple University Consortium (AUC).
The two students, along with two RMIT staff who have also been awarded scholarships under separate AUC schemes, will spend a week in California rubbing shoulders with the world’s best Apple developers and programmers.
Peter Varitimidis, RMIT Systems Administrator, who worked with the AUC to offer the scheme at RMIT, said: “This is a great opportunity for our students to meet and network with the people who create the code behind one of the world’s leading computer brands. Their skills base will rocket through the exchange of knowledge with their peers and engineers.”
