和英国人讲爱尔兰的签证,他们都不可思议,what? 但不幸的是我们要这个签证,没办法。不过办起来很顺利。
我是到爱尔兰参加一个Conference, 所以和旅游略有不同。奇怪的是爱尔兰在英国没有大使馆或领事馆的网页,只好从爱尔兰的外交部上找到信息,下载一份签证表,按照规定的内容提供材料,又打了一个电话到伦敦的签证部 (020) 7225 7700。 注意每天下午才有人接,不过一打就通,问清现在的签证费是42磅,面签一个星期、寄签二个星期可以拿到签证。我选择了寄签,买了一个42磅的Postorder 并附上一个回邮的特快信封Special Delivery,按照要求把文件附上,无非是邀请函、住宿确认等。2个星期后,收到签证和护照,是一个贴纸但用手写的签证详情,有点意思。我申请入境4天,给了一个3个月内入境一次不限天数的签证。
签证申请表可以让使馆(免费)寄一份,是所谓双层复写纸那种,和网上下载的一样使用。

Application requirements:
(a) Valid passport.
(One completed application form.

(d) Letters of reference to substantiate purpose of visit or confirmation of hotel booking containing dates of proposed stay.

(f) Evidence that applicant is obliged to return to country of residence, eg letter from current employer stating when applicant is due to return to work.
(g) Evidence of sufficient funds or letter of reference from resident in Ireland claiming full financial responsibility for applicant, with proof they have sufficient funds to do so (eg bank statement).
(h) Student: (a)-(g) and, (h) Letter of acceptance from place of study (must be full-time and at least 15 hours' study time per week). (i) Proof of paid fees and sufficient funds for duration of course. (j) Copies of educational qualifications.
Business: (a)-(g) and, (h) Letter of invitation from company in Ireland/conference host.

Travelling to Ireland on business
Business Meeting
If you are a Visa-required national and coming to Ireland for a business meeting you should present the following with your Visa Application
1. Letter of Invitation from Irish company in question detailing what you will be doing on your proposed stay in Ireland and how long you will be staying.
2. Confirmation of where you will be staying during your proposed stay.
3. Confirmation of who will be responsible for your expenses during your stay. If it is yourself or your company, evidence may be requested.
Conference
If you are a Visa-required national and coming to Ireland for a conference you should present the following with your Visa Application.
4. Letter from the conference host detailing the nature and duration of your proposed stay in Ireland.
5. As above.
Starting a Business in Ireland
If you are a Non EEA national and you wish to set up business in Ireland, you will require Business Permission from the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform. For more information please consult this document.
