美国签证结果:华丽丽的check(说是需要2-3weeks的administrative processing,不过没给带颜色的小条。)
HIT-Automation
申请:UC Berkeley-Mechanical Engineering(Controls/Dynamics,PhD)
VO:胖胖的白人mm(普遍反映好叼啊)
ME:Yes, Madam.
ME:Here it is.
VO:We'd better speak English, OK?
ME:OK。
VO:You will attend UC Berkeley, for PhD study in Mechanical Engineering?
ME:Yes。
VO:(灰常灰常兴奋地)Your visa application is passed!
Wow, thank you!
VO:(恢复严肃表情)Tell me what kind of research will you do at UC Berkeley?
VO:Is it robotic car?
No, not about robotic car, but mainly focuses on how to provide enhanced safery and reduction in drivers' fatigue in case of heavy traffic in big cities.(我想把她拉上正道啊)
VO:Oh? How? Will you use a computer and a robot?(在键盘上一顿狂敲,眉头紧锁)
ME:(咋还是robot? We will let the car go or stop according to the distance between it and its preceding vehicle...
打断我)The people, I mean the driver will do it, or a robot will tell the driver?
ME:(好吧,看来这个mm是铁了心了问robot)There is no robot in or on it. The car can stop and go automatically.(她无非想知道是people还是robot,开始想顺着她的思路说是people,可如果people do this,这还是advanced vehicle system么。
VO:Interesting!(VO说这个词的时候你要当心了。) You are studying in Harin Institute of Technology?
ME:Yes.(心想不妙)
VO:What is your major?
ME:Automation.(HIT + Automation =
VO:When will you graduate?
ME:This July.
VO:Oh, yes, this July. Who will provide the funding at Berkeley?
ME:(因为我用了c方案,就贯彻执行呗)My supervisor will finacially support me.
VO:Give me your offer letter.
ME:Here it is.
VO:(仔细看。)You've got one year full financial support.
ME:Actually it says most of the PhD students at Berkeley can always get financial support...
VO:(她打断说)Yes, during your PhD studies. Do you have some material of your advisor?
ME:Yes.(不想给CV啊,就给了主页。)
VO:(看了几秒)Do you have his resume?
ME:Oh, yes. Here you are.
VO:And your resume, study plan.
VO:You've got all of these. So well-prepared!
VO:(一边整理我交的材料,一边说)Admitted by UC Berkeley PhD program, you are the most brilliant student I've seen.
ME:Thank you.(心想,沈阳到底不是北上啊,不过等过两天你看到某girl时就会说“Admitted by MIT PhD program, YOU are the most brilliant student I've EVER seen.”
VO:(把I-20还给我)We need 2-3 weeks' administrative processing. (俺猜到了)But don't worry, no big deal. (给我一个填回寄材料的小方块纸,白地红字)You can go to the post office ...(一堆套话,然后又是安慰了几句的寒暄)Bye bye.
ME:Thank you. Good bye.
